Town Launches Donation Drive for Ukraine, Is Joined by Unexpected Donors,

Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board are proud to announce the launch of the KIT (Keep Islip Thriving) Grant Program. Through funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), small business owners and not-for-profits within the Town of Islip have the opportunity to obtain grant funding to assist with the financial burdens brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Town to Distribute FREE COVID-19 Test Kits

February 22nd, 2022 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board are notifying residents that FREE COVID-19 test kits will be available for distribution to Islip residents on Friday, March 4 from 11:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

New York State Homeowner Assistance Fund Application Deadline, February 18th

New York State's Homeowner Assistance Fund is a program to assist homeowners who are facing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The NYS program is available to qualifying homeowners to provide aid for those behind on their property taxes, mortgages and other financial difficulties. Deadline is Friday, Feb. 18th.

NYS Governor Announces Pop-Up Vaccination Sites for Ages 5+

The Governor has announced a number of vaccine pop-up sites opening across the state geared toward providing the vaccine for children ages 5 and up.

USPS Offers FREE At-Home COVID Test Kits

The United States Postal Service has announced the launch of its At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits available for order now. Residential households in the U.S. can order one set of 4 free at-home tests from USPS.com. The kits are limited to ONE per household and will ship by late January.

NYSDOH Opens Mobile Testing Site outside Good Samaritan Hospital

The program is first come/first serve, with no appointments needed. The site will provide rapid tests (results in 24-48 hours) and PCR testing for people who are ASYMPTOMATIC, and is open to Good Samaritan employees and the community. Hours of operation are from 9:00am-6:00pm, 7 days a week.

NYS Governor Propvides Interim Updated Isolation & Quarantine Guidance

In response to New York State experiencing record numbers of COVID-19 cases, NYS Governor Hochul has provided updated quarantine guidance, announcing that the NYSDOH is aligning with CDC’s updated isolation and quarantine recommendations.

Suffolk County Offers Moderna Vaccination Clinic, Provides Booster Guidance

Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. Gregson Pigott announced recently that the Suffolk County Department of Health Services will be offering the Moderna vaccine for the first time in more than six months at its COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Thursday, October 28, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge.

FREE COVID-19 Vaccination Site

Beginning Wednesday, July 7th by APPOINTMENT ONLY Good Samaritan Hospital will be offering FREE COVID-19 vaccines at the Brentwood Recreation Center. Hours of operation are from 1pm to 5pm on Wednesdays.

Small Business Recovery Grant Program

Small businesses experiencing financial hardships as a result of COVID-19 can now apply for grants of up to $50,000, with a minimum award of $5,000.

Governor Announces New Vaccine Incentive Providing a FREE TWO-DAY PASS to ANY New York State Park to Those Vaccinated Between MAY 24 and MAY 31

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that every person who gets vaccinated with either a first dose, or single dose of Johnson & Johnson, anywhere in New York State between May 24 and 31 is eligible to receive a free two-day pass to any New York State Park, valid through September 30, 2021. Passes can be picked up at any New York State Park.

NYS Mass Vaccination Sites Accepting Walk-Ins 60 Years of Age and Older

Starting Friday, April 23rd, select NYS mass vaccination sites have begun taking walk-ins for those 60 years and older. This includes the state-operated site at Suffolk County Community College in Brentwood.

Operating hours are 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM.

Vaccine Availability for April 20th, 21st and 22nd

Visiting Nurse Service Hospice of Suffolk (VNSHS) is pleased to offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine on April 20, 21 and 22 at their 505 Main Street Northport office. This vaccine is available to those 18 and over.

Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit Process - Updated March 2021

The Town of Islip Planning and Fire Prevention Offices are now issuing Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit/Tent Permit Applications for bars and restaurants through October 31, 2021. Bars and restaurants that wish to apply for or extend their current outdoor dining permit can do so by completing the Temporary Outdoor Dining Application – March 17, 2021. Permits will be valid from the date they are issued through October 31, 2021.

The simple, no fee application is available on the Town of Islip website. Complete applications are typically reviewed and approved within a few hours of submission.

Brentwood Recreation Center COVID Test Site Important Update

The Good Samaritan/Town of Islip Brentwood Recreation Center COVID TEST SITE will be closed on Monday, February 1 due to anticipated weather. Appointments can be rescheduled by calling 631-376-4444.

Additionally, the Good Samaritan/Town of Islip Brentwood Recreation Center COVID TEST SITE is opening all test dates and times to active and reserve members of the military.

Updated Temporary Outdoor Dining Application

The Town of Islip Planning and Fire Prevention Offices have modified the Temporary Outdoor Dining Permit/Tent Permit Application for bars and restaurants. Important Update on New York State's Vaccination Administration Plan

Governor Cuomo today updated New Yorkers on the state's Vaccination Administration Plan and the establishment of Regional Vaccination Hubs to help facilitate vaccinations once Phase 2 of the state's plan begins in early 2021.

Additionally, the state has launched the Vaccinate New York campaign and website to provide the public with information about, and help instill confidence in, the vaccine and the state's administration plan.

MacArthur Airport to Provide Arriving Passengers with Easy COVID-19 Testing Signup Option

Medical professionals from American Family Care (AFC Urgent Care – Long Island) joined with Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Long Island MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken to present a new COVID-19 testing appointment system conducted at MacArthur Airport designed to minimize quarantine and take some of the stress out of travel while keeping New York healthy.

United Way is working in partnership with its community agency network, including Pronto of Long Island, to select and train Community Navigators in working with seniors. They provide “Safe at Home Kits” containing personal PPE items and staying safe information cards, as well as ensure clients have adequate groceries and personal and hygiene supplies. In addition, Community Navigators help fight depression and loneliness by helping seniors stay in touch with loved ones virtually and connecting them to mental health and support services, if needed.

Long Island MacArthur Airport officials and Silver Defender representatives reapplied state-of-the-art antimicrobial film protection on high-touch surfaces throughout the airport terminal. Silver Defender is a film adhesive containing silver ions that react with germ cells to help keep surfaces disinfected, and is harmless to people and pets.

Five States Removed From NY's COVID-19 Travel Advisory List Enabling Travel Without Quarantine

Long Island MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken shared today, that 5 states with nonstop or connecting service from the airport are released from the State of New York’s Covid-19 Travel Advisory list requiring quarantine. This immediately affects MacArthur Airport customers by making many popular destinations immediately available for travel without restrictions.

Islip IDA Launches COVID-19 Disaster Loan/Grant Program

The Town of Islip Industrial Development Agency today announced it will offer grant or loan assistance to eligible businesses who have demonstrated a financial need arising from the COVID-19 Emergency Disaster declared by NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo. The loan/grant program will adhere to the NYS Emergency Disaster Loan Program signed into law by the governor on June 19, 2020. Town Implements Reopening Measures at Public Marinas

Effective Monday, April 20, 2020, all Town boat launch ramps and marinas are open. The Office of Inspector General recognizes that we are facing unprecedented times and is alerting the public about potential fraud schemes related to economic stimulus programs offered by the U.S. Small Business Administration in response to the Novel Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19). The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), the largest financial assistance bill to date, includes provisions to help small businesses. Fraudsters have already begun targeting small business owners during these economically difficult times. Be on the lookout for grant fraud, loan fraud, and phishing.

New York State Executive Order Requiring Face Coverings for Public and Private Employees Interacting with the Public

For all essential businesses or entities, any employees who are present in the workplace shall be provided and shall wear face coverings when in direct contact with customers or members of the public. Businesses must provide, at their expense, such face coverings for their employees. This provision may be enforced by local governments or local law enforcement as if it were an order pursuant to section 12 or 12-b of the Public Health Law. This requirement shall be effective Wednesday, April 15 at 8 p.m.

Supervisor, Town Board Warn Against Scammers During COVID-19 Spread

Scammers are taking advantage of fears surrounding the emerging Coronavirus situation. The senior population in particular has been targeted by scammers and phishing schemes.

Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board are reminding residents to remain vigilant during these times and to continue to exercise smart and informed internet practices.

Town Playgrounds, Golf Courses Closed

To ensure residents' health and safety, Town of Islip playgrounds and golf courses are closed until further notice, effective Friday, March 20th, 2020. Signage is posted at all Town playgrounds.

Sanitation collection continues as scheduled.

Over 60 Can Shop Early at Stop and Shop

Customers who are 60 years of age and older can shop daily from 6 am to 7:30 am at Stop and Shop beginning Thursday, March 19th.

"We're making the decision to offer this every day of the week to allow for community members in this age category to shop in a less crowded environment, which better enables social distancing. They'll also be shopping prior to any other customers entering," according to Stop and Shop officials.

First Drive-Through Appointment Only COVID-19 Test Facility Opens in Suffolk

Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Town Board announced that the first drive-through COVID-19 testing facility is now open in Suffolk County. Testing is being conducted at Stony Brook University, and is by appointment ONLY.

Town Suspends Parking Meters to Facilitate Take-Out

Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Town Board, have suspended parking meters along Main St. in downtown Bay Shore, in an effort to facilitate restaurant Take-Out orders.

Town Offices Closed to Public & Services Update

Town of Islip Offices located at 655 Main St. (Town Hall), 401 Main St. (Town Hall West), the offices in 40 Nassau Ave., One Manitton Court and 50 Irish Lane (Brookwood Hall), will be CLOSED TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC as of Monday, March 16, 2020.

Appointments can be made under limited emergency circumstances and only to address services that cannot otherwise be addressed online or by mail.

St. Patrick's Day Parade Cancelations

Be advised, the Bay Shore/Brightwaters St. Patrick's Day Parade scheduled for Saturday, March 14, as well as the Bayport/Blue Point St. Patrick's Day Parade scheduled for Sunday, March 15th, have been CANCELED.

Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, joined by Good Samaritan Hospital's Dr. Christopher Raio, Chair of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Eric Decena, Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine and Kathy DiBenedetto, RN, Director of Infection Prevention, discuss Coronavirus facts, education and hygeine. Joining the Supervisor will be , all with Good Samaritan Hospital, West Islip.

Islip Town Continues COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

Town of Islip officials are following federal, state and county guidelines to ensure residents' safety. Additional Purell hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed throughout Town of Islip facilities, including Town Hall and all Town Recreation and Senior Centers.

The frequency of cleaning Town facilities has been significantly increased, including door knobs, railings, etc. Residents are encouraged to visit the Town’s website and conduct business online to the extent that they can, to download applications, licenses, permit requirements, or pay taxes online.

ALL Senior Centers CLOSED Pending Further Notice

Out of an abundance of caution, and in accordance with CDC recommendations to “cancel gatherings of more than 10 people for organizations that serve high-risk populations” Town of Islip officials have closed all Senior Centers beginning Fri. March 13, until recommendations change.
