LI Against Domestic Violence has been operating for over 40 years serving, sheltering and helping to heal victims of abuse. Often times there are so many reasons it is challenging for a woman to leave an abusive spouse, sometimes the family pet is one of them. Many women will not leave if they cannot take their dog with them, as they fear for the animals safety. They provide help to place dogs in a safe close-nit foster care network and trusted shelters and will also assist with vet bills when needed.
