Community Workshop Set for February 4th

January 25th, 2019 – Downtown Central Islip was selected as the winner of the $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) in the Long Island region. New York State’s DRI seeks to “transform communities ripe for development into vibrant neighborhoods where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work, and raise a family.”

Join us at the Central Islip Senior High School Cafeteria on Monday, February 4th, 2019 for a second Community Workshop detailing more about this planning effort. Come tell us what you think about potential project proposals to spark economic vitality and generate growth in downtown. Your input will help identify the selected projects that will be recommended for state funding as part of the DRI Strategic Plan. See the flyers below for full details.

The $10 million grant can be used as gap funding for eligible capital projects that have the potential to increase economic vitality and growth in downtown, including projects that strengthen the Carleton Avenue corridor, enhance connections to the Central Islip LIRR station, and create opportunities for transit-oriented development.
