In Memory of Former Supervisor Frank R. Jones

June 26th, 2018 – Flags in the Town of Islip will be flying at half-staff in memory of the late Frank R. Jones, former Supervisor to the Town of Islip from 1987-1993. Frank R. Jones died Friday at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California. He was 88.

"One of Frank R. Jones' many accomplishments was saving the Sayville Beach at Foster Avenue from future development, so that generations of Islip residents could enjoy this local treasure. I am grateful that last year, Frank Jones was able to be with us for the Town's dedication of the Supervisor Frank R. Jones Beach at Sayville Marina Park in his honor," said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

Ozone Health Advisory for Monday, June 18, 2018

June 18th, 2019 – The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an ozone health advisory for Long Island and the Metropolitan New York City Region. Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Suffolk County Health Commissioner Dr. James Tomarken are advising that all residents, especially young children, seniors, those who exercise or are involved in strenuous outdoor work, and those with pre-existing respiratory or heart problems, limit strenuous outdoor activity. Ozone levels are often elevated after noon through early evening on hot, sunny days.

Trail Rides at Connetquot State Park Preserve

June 6th, 2018 – Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs have announced horseback Trail Rides at Connetquot State Park Preserve. Enjoy an hour long horseback ride in the beautiful park, and explore the 50 miles on your own or with family and friends. Sessions will be offered for children 8 years to adult, and are $36 for all Town of Islip residents. Both Summer and Fall sessions are available.


2018 Horseback Summer Riding Camp

June 6th, 2018 – Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs invites children 6–8 years of age to Minieri's Parkview Riding Center for a unique blend of horse riding lessons, trail rides, grooming, and tacking instruction. Campers will practice how to bathe a horse and lead it to a stall, as well as learn about and observe farm animals interacting with one another. Arts and crafts, games on horseback, water games and a water slide will also available.

Set sail aboard the "Lauren Kristy" paddleboat on its way to Fire Island's Atlantique Beach. Enjoy buffet dinner service with complimentary beverage, DJ entertainment, and more.


"Secret Gardens of Islip" Garden Walk to be held July 14th

June 5th, 2018 – Highlighted in Newsday's "weekend top 10 things to do" in 2016, the Historical Society of Islip Hamlet will have their 6th Garden Walk – “Secret Gardens of Islip” - on Saturday, July 14th (rain date July 15th) from 12 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Come enjoy a beautiful summer day as 5 friends of the society open their gates for guests to stroll through and enjoy these unique gardens; entertainment by Carols for Causes and light refreshments served at each location.


Town Clerk Office Hours - July 2nd – July 6th, 2018

May 31st, 2018 – Please be advised, during the week of July 2nd – June 6th the Town Clerk's Office will operate from 8:30am to 4:30pm. On Tuesday, July 3rd the Town Clerk's Office will not be holding their usual extended hours of 8:30am to 7:15pm, and will instead operate from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

LIRR Double Track Project - Month of June

May 31st, 2018 – During the weekends of June 2 – 4 and June 23 – 25, the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will continue ongoing track work and other construction as part of the Double Track Project between Hicksville and Ronkonkoma. This work is being performed as part of the LIRR Double Track Project which will improve service and reliability on the LIRR’s Ronkonkoma Branch and spur economic activity. It will reduce delays and enable more off peak service in both directions. See full details below.
