June 13th,2019 – The Town of Islip continued its year-long 335 birthday celebration with a Living History Day at the Islip Grange in Sayville.

The history of Islip came to life Saturday through historical documents, re-enactments, encampments, interactive programs and tours, and participants in period costumes, all under bright sunny skies.

Supervisor Carpenter stands with Veterans' Advocate Frank Romeo as he finishes his walk across New York State

June 11th, 2019 – Life-long Town of Islip resident and veterans' advocate Frank Romeo completed the final leg of his intrepid 750 mile walk across New York State Saturday, shedding light on veterans issues and awareness of PTSD. Romeo’s walk, which began in late winter, culminated at the Veterans’ Memorial Head of the Brightwaters Canal, where he was greeted by family, friends, supporters and local elected officials.

June 11th, 2019 – On June 8th, 2019, Town of Islip Councilman John C. Cochrane, Jr., in the company of Mayor John Valdini, members of the Village of Brightwaters board and supporters of our military and veterans, met at the Brightwaters Canal to celebrate life-long Town of Islip resident Frank Romeo, as he approached the final stretch of his 750 mile walk across New York State, completing the mission he set out on in late winter.

Councilman Cochrane stands with fellow Veterans

June 11th, 2019 – Town Councilman John C. Cochrane, Jr. helped honor the troops recently at the Paws of War Military Appreciation Day event hosted by the Brentwood VFW Post. The event, which aims to give back to local service veterans and their pups, featured free vaccines, micro chipping, heart worm tests, heart worm preventative, flea and tick prevention, as well as free dog chow, and BBQ.

Supervisor Carpenter stands with students and the Islip Elks before the 41st Youth in Government Day

June 4th, 2019– Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter welcomed students to Town Hall as part of the annual Elks’ Youth in Government Day visit. A total of 21 students in 6th and 7th grade from East Islip Middle School and St. Mary’s School took part, visiting the WRAP Recycling Center and the Shellfish Culture Facility.
