Town Crews Respond to Coastal Flooding

November 26th, 2018 – Mother Nature reminds us again that she’s in control. As we’ve just barely recovered from the torrential rains, wind and downed trees from last Saturday night and the flooding it brought, our crews are back at it again tonight. There are approximately 15 areas being pumped and not necessarily in the traditional spots.

Due to the tidal nature of this storm, and the fact that many areas are still saturated from Saturday’s rain, we are seeing flooding in some normally dry areas. We are presently under a coastal flood advisory until 5am tomorrow. We ask for your patience, and to please stay indoors and off the roads if possible.

"As always, I pray that our crews out there are safe and out of harm’s way.” – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter

Town Crews Respond in the Aftermath of Rain and Wind Storm

November 25th, 2018 – Due to the severe rain and winds overnight, Town of Islip crews have been pumping through the night at approximately 15 locations throughout the Town. Eight trees came down across our roadways. Currently we are still pumping flooded areas, and an additional report of three downed trees have been reported to Public Safety in the Ronkonkoma area.

We anticipate approximately 3 to 4 more hours of pumping. Our crews will remain as long as needed. Public Safety has been a tremendous help throughout the storm, identifying trouble spots.

"We thank these brave men and women who are out there, whenever needed, serving and protecting our residents...” Angie Carpenter, Supervisor Islip Town.
