February 22nd, 2023 – Long Island MacArthur Airport today officially dedicated its $8.4 million, 12,000 SF Ground Transportation Center (GTC) following the completion of a Terminal Walkway, the final component of the project. Additionally, the airport announced $26 million in improvements to the Main Terminal Building, along with Mechanical Engineering and Plumbing (MEP) upgrades. While this construction work is funded by separate grants, the projects will take place simultaneously for efficiency, and to keep operations running smoothly for customers. The project is expected to take approximately one year to complete.

February 3rd, 2023 – Islip Town employees turned out wearing red by the dozens, for the Town’s annual “Go Red for Women” campaign Friday, during February, American Heart Month. Staff from departments Town-wide contributed $5 each, to be donated to cardiac health and research programs at neighboring hospitals, Good Samaritan University and South Shore University.

February 3rd, 2023 – Islip Town’s Unity Council hosted its first Unity Ceremony at Town Hall West, attended by several hundred members of the community, including elected officials, organizational leaders, Veterans groups, residents, school and local hospital representatives.
The event took place on what is also known as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Friday, January 27th.

January 25th, 2023– The Islip Town Board recognized Edwin Yanes at its January Town Board meeting Tuesday. Mr. Yanes wrote a letter in November expressing his concern about littering, with a recommendation to increase the penalty for doing so in public places, in order to further dissuade litterers and reduce pollution in Islip's streets and communities.
