April 20th, 2021 – Central Islip HS Senior Twyla Joseph received a Certificate of Recognition from Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, on behalf of the members of the Town Board recently. Twyla, whose story of the struggles of virtual learning, anxiety and college selection during COVID-19, reflects the story of millions of young students struggling during the pandemic, graced the cover of Time magazine in an April story, "The Lost Year."

April 7th, 2021 – The memory of NYPD Sgt. James P. Bast was honored at a street renaming in Sayville recently, paying tribute to the fallen officer who died from a 9-11 related illness. Behrendt Ct., in Sayville was renamed Sgt. James P. Bast Way by the Town of Islip.

April 8th, 2021 – U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, member of the Senate Aging Committee, stood at the West Islip Senior Center with Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, and Suffolk Independent Living Organization (SILO), Chief Executive Officer Joseph M. Delgado to announce a package of three bills to help reduce the cost of prescription drugs, and help ensure that everyone can access the medicine they need.
