A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

May 17th, 2019– Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Islip Public Safety Commissioner, Anthony D'Amico, Long Island MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken and Islip Town officials, at a ceremony marking the second graduating class of the 2019 Town of Islip Peace Officer Academy. The 12 officers completed a 4-week New York State approved course taught by Town of Islip instructors, approved and certified by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Service. The course consists of classroom instruction in law, ethics and communication, defensive tactics, physical training, CPR, Narcan training and first aid.

"Congratulations to the women and men of our newest 2019 graduating class. This is the second academy that we have run, and we are delighted that you have participated and have succeeded, and today is the culmination of those efforts. We're proud of each and every one of you, and we are grateful for your service," said Islip Supervisor Carpenter.

The graduating class included officers from the Town of Oyster Bay and the Town of Huntington. In attendance were Town of Huntington Supervisor, Chad Lupinacci and representatives from Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor, Joe Saladino's office.
