The Office of the Town Attorney acts as legal counsel to the Town of Islip, the Town Board, all Commissioners and Department Heads of the Town of Islip and the various other Boards and Agencies serving the Town.
The Town Attorney’s office prepares and reviews resolutions and legislation for the Town Board, represents the Town in all legal proceedings and litigation and prepares, reviews and processes all contracts, agreements and insurance policies.
The Town Attorney’s office prosecutes Town Code violations in Fifth District Court.
All Freedom of Information Requests are submitted to the Town Clerk’s office and are processed by the Records Access Officer.
The Town Attorney’s office cannot offer legal counsel to private residents in private matters. A resident in need of legal advice may contact the Suffolk County Bar Association Lawyer Referral and Information Service at 631-234-5577.
