Patrols the jurisdiction by foot or automobile and notes violations of local codes and ordinances, such as litter, open container, noise, peddling, dumping, parking violations, etc.; Investigates complaints referred by the public or other agencies regarding the violation of local codes and ordinances; Investigates reports of violations of local codes and ordinances and issues summonses to violators when sufficient evidence exists; Testifies in town or village court in cases which are contested; Notifies Police Department immediately when activities of a criminal nature are observed. Checks chemical levels at town pools; Maintains pool filters; Knowledge of pool filter system *May include weekend and night hours None
Performs manual work; Grounds maintenance activities; Cut grass, lay soil, plant trees; Remove debris from roads; Loads and unloads supplies and equipment; Possible operation of power tools and light machinery. None
Observes swimmers for signs of fatigue; Maintains order and enforces regulations at assigned swimming area; Rescues swimmers in distress; Administer resuscitation and first aid when necessary; Shares in maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of area. Must possess appropriate current certification as a lifeguard and CPR issued by the American Red Cross or NYS Dept. of Health or NYS Dept. of Health Approved and must maintain certification throughout employment.
Gives information and directions to boaters; Assists in maintaining order by enforcing rules and regulations of facility; Submits reports to supervisors regarding incidents that may occur during tour; May take periodic check of doors, windows, and parking areas to prevent trespassing and vandalism. Training will be provided to receive registration as a guard with the NYS Dept. of Licensing Services. Registration must be maintained throughout employment once received.
Performs routine grounds keeping work including raking, weeding and picking up litter; Performs routine custodial tasks; Grounds maintenance activities. None
