July 11th, 2019 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined residents of the West Islip community recently, for an evening of music, games, face painting and more at the annual West Islip Family Night at West Islip Beach Memorial Playground.
The playground, heavily damaged by Superstorm Sandy, was reopened in 2014 in conjunction with The Where Angels Play Foundation, Sandy Ground Project, as a memorial to Sandy Hook Elementary school student Madeleine Hsu. This year’s Family Night was held on what would have been Madeleine’s 13th Birthday.
Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter gathered with residents to celebrate the life of Madeleine and to enjoy the playground dedicated to her memory.
Alongside Supervisor Carpenter, County Legislator Steven Flotteron, and NYS Assemblyman Michael Lipetri, were also in attendance. To learn more about The Where Angels Play Foundation, visit their website at www.whereangelsplatfoundation.org.
