Islip Town Living History Day

Come enjoy this interactive experience exploring the intriguing history of our Town, featuring displays and programs from organizations that preserve the history of the Town, including: the Sayville Farmer’s Market; Bayport Aerodrome; Islip Town Firefighters Museum; Islip Town Clerk’s Office; Town Historian’s Office, and many reenactment groups, historical societies, and libraries.

Enjoy a day of Educational and Family Fun including:

Veterans books to find family war records
Demonstrations of colonial homemaking
Military drills near to the site of a Civil War recruiting camp
Children’s games from days gone by
A quilting exhibition

Also Featuring:

11:00 am - Walking tour of the historic structures
1:00 pm - Be the jury in an interactive trial of the 1880s, titled “An Islip Murder So Foul"
3:00 pm - Discussion for ways to research your own home’s history
