A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

May 1st, 2019 – Frontier Airlines launched new nonstop service to Raleigh-Durham International Airport from Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. Angie Carpenter, Islip Town Supervisor, and Shelley LaRose-Arken, Airport Commissioner, joined elected officials, business leaders, and local tourism stakeholders to celebrate the new nonstop, the first of its kind from MacArthur Airport, (ISP) to the rapidly growing region of Raleigh-Durham, N.C. The inaugural flight departed April 30 at 9:12 pm from the Main Terminal - West Concourse.

“This new nonstop service means added convenience for our customers, more jobs and economic prosperity for Long Island,” explained Carpenter. “Customers in the Long Island region consistently ask for more destinations from ISP. We are grateful to Frontier Airlines for launching this important new nonstop,” she added.

The inbound flight from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) departs at 6:40 pm and arrives at MacArthur Airport at 8:22 pm. Flights to RDU depart at 9:12 pm and arrive at RDU at 11 pm. The flights will operate three times a week – Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Fares are being offered for as low as $25 each way.

“Just like Long Island, Raleigh-Durham is an important technology and research destination, and home to top universities. This nonstop service will connect our local businesses with another dynamic marketplace,” said LaRose-Arken. “We are excited about the great synergy this air service brings to our area and for the opportunities it provides our business travelers,” she added.

'MacArthur Airport is a tremendous economic resource that brings jobs, convenience, and vitality to Long Island," said Long Island Association President & CEO Kevin Law. "The airport continues to provide new upgrades for its customers, and Raleigh-Durham is another excellent addition that significantly benefits the local business community. MacArthur Airport spurs economic growth and creates jobs for the entire region, and thus I commend Supervisor Carpenter and the Town of Islip for adding new nonstop service by Frontier Airlines to Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina,” he added.

“There are so many advantages to traveling to and from MacArthur Airport. We want to get the word out about the benefits of our airport, its convenience, our amenities, and the opportunity that exists for airlines,” said Supervisor Carpenter.
