June 13th,2019 – The Brentwood UFSD hosted their My Brother's Keeper Program Empowerment Brunch this weekend. Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter attended the event, which celebrated students' achievements as a result of participation in the MBK program.
The goal of the MBK program is to increase academic and social outcomes for young men of color through mentoring, leadership development and college awareness. In 2017, the Brentwood district was awarded a NYS Education Department My Brother's Keeper Grant. The grant represents a partnership between the Brentwood School District, Stony Brook School of Technology and Management and Youth Enrichment Services.
"I commend the Brentwood School District staff and administration, for providing life-changing and empowering resources to their male students through My Brother's Keeper," said Supervisor Carpenter.
