July 16th, 2019 – Players from of the Connetquot High School Baseball Team were recognized by the Islip Town Board this week, after capturing the county title in three games against Ward Melville High School in late June.

Pitcher Joe Savino was congratulated at the Town Board meeting for earning the 2019 Paul Gibson Award for his season record. In 9 starts, Savino went 8-1 with a 0.74 ERA and 79 strike-outs against just two walks in 57 innings pitched.

Coach Rob Burger commended the team for their hard work. "So many good things happened for this team this season. This was a special season for Connetquot and a special season for Joey Savino."

"These young men are shining examples of what can be accomplished when you remain focused and trust yourself," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
