August 30th, 2019 – The Town of Islip hosted a Family Fun Day recently, to mark the Town's continued year-long 335 Birthday celebration.
Hundreds of residents turned out under magnificently sunny skies for games, giant bubble making, face painting, FREE hot dogs courtesy of the Brentwood Fire Department, music by Latinology, autographs from Cosmos Soccer players, a pick-up basketball game with SCPD officers and Town of Islip Public Safety Officers, giveaways and a complimentary swim in the newly renovated Olympic-size Clemente swimming pool.
"This was a great day for the residents of Brentwood and for the Town of Islip. Roberto Clemente Park is a jewel in our Town that we can all be proud of, and its only getting better with our planned Spray Park and Skate Park," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
On hand for the event were NYS Assemblyman Phil Ramos; Islip Town Board members Councilmen John Cochrane and James O'Connor; Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen; Receiver of Taxes Alexis Weik; Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Commissioner Tom Owens; Deputy Commissioner Deirdre Whalberg and staff and Maria Vidal, Executive Director, Pronto, Long Island.
