– With this being the twenty-fourth year since unimaginable tragedy struck on September 11th, the Town held its annual memorial ceremony to pay tribute to all who were lost and vowed to never forget their meaningful lives and legacies.Town officials, leaders from school districts, community groups, civic organizations, and the families of those who perished all joined together to mourn. The names of all 90 Islip residents who lost their lives on 9/11 were read and prayers were led by both Rabbi Shimon Stillerman of Chabad of Islip and Pastor Michael Staneck of Trinity Lutheran Church.
The monument to Islip victims of 9/11 stands in front of Town Hall at 655 Main St., for anyone who would like to commemorate as we take this time to remember the names of those we lost.
