ISLIP, NY
-New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli recognized Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter in celebration of Italian Heritage Month for outstanding contributions to the State of New York.Italian Heritage Month, celebrated each October, honors the rich traditions, history, and achievements of Italian Americans whose work continues to strengthen and enrich their communities.
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition,” said Supervisor Carpenter. “As a first generation Italian-American, Italian heritage has always been a source of pride and inspiration for me. It’s about family, hard work, generosity, community, and let’s not forget the food!”
The celebration, which was held at the Italian American Museum in the heart of the Little Italy neighborhood in New York City, highlighted individuals who embody the enduring legacy and spirit of Italian Americans.
Supervisor Carpenter joins a distinguished group of honorees who have made a meaningful impact including Monsignor Hilary Franco (Prelate of his Holiness, Advisor to the Permanent), Biagio Isgro, Jr (NYS OSDIA), Vincent Pitta (Pitta LLP), Thomas Quackenbush (Teamsters Local 294), and Angelo Vivolo (National Columbus Heritage Coalition).
Also presenting recognition to the Italian American History Museum was Karen Persichilli Keogh on behalf of New York State Governor Hochul. According to Italian American Museum President Dr. Joseph Scelsa, Governor Hochul has been a true champion of the Museum which opened its Little Italy location in 2024.
