ISLIP, NY – December 5th, 2025 - Several of Islip Town’s initiatives were recognized at today’s Smart Growth Summit. Organized by Vision Long Island, this year’s summit focused on affordability, helping small businesses, as well as downtown revitalization and infrastructure investment. The event brought together local and regional leaders from more than 50 Long Island communities featuring over 100 speakers and 20 workshops.

Town projects cited include, Shoregate at Bay Shore in the category of transit-oriented development, The Belmont in Central Islip for creating a sense of community, and revitalization efforts throughout Central Islip. The proposed North Terminal at the airport adjacent to Ronkonkoma Railroad was also a topic that was very positively received.

Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter shared her excitement at all that is happening in the Town. “We at the Town, always try to look for sustainable and community-oriented paths forward. It is always inspiring to see how many businesses, towns, and communities come together to share the same vision.”
