ISLIP, NY – January 25th, 2026
- the Town of Islip has officially declared a State of Emergency in response to the ongoing snowstorm and hazardous weather conditions. The Town Supervisor urges all residents to prioritize the safety of themselves, their families, and emergency personnel by remaining off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. “Everyone please concentrate on staying home, staying warm, and staying safe,” Supervisor Angie Carpenter said. “Limiting travel during this storm allows our emergency responders and highway crews to do their jobs safely and efficiently, and helps ensure that assistance is available to those who truly need it.”
Residents are reminded that parking on Town roadways is strictly prohibited during this time and asks everyone to move their cars off of the streets. Vehicles left on the road will impede plowing operations and make it more difficult to ensure the roadways are all plowed.
Town departments are actively monitoring conditions and responding as needed. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official Town communication channels and to use caution at all times.
