Islip, NY – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter delivered her 11th annual State of the Town address, outlining the progress the Town has made in recent years and sharing a vision for the continued growth and success of the Town of Islip. During the address, Supervisor Carpenter highlighted the dedicated work of Town employees, Commissioners and Department Heads, the strength of the local community, and the strategic investments being made to ensure a prosperous future for residents.
In reflecting on the Town's progress, the Supervisor emphasized that the continued success of Islip is built upon strong infrastructure, responsible governance, and the active participation of residents who contribute to the vitality of the community. She praised the members of the Town Board for all their dedication, cooperation, and support.
"When we talk about progress, we are talking about the roads we drive on every day, the public spaces where families gather, the local businesses that continue to open their doors, and the essential services on which residents rely," said Supervisor Carpenter. "These are the visible signs of a Town that is thriving and moving forward."
Supervisor Carpenter spoke about several key areas where the Town has made meaningful investments. Among them were improvements to Islip's extensive roadway network, which spans more than 1,200 miles, purposeful care and attention to Long Island MacArthur Airport, with which it has flourished, and the ongoing implementation of the Town's Comprehensive Plan, which has provided an opportunity for residents, planning professionals, and elected officials to share their ideas and help shape the future of the Town.
"We have focused on doing things the right way," the Supervisor continued. "Investing responsibly, maintaining and upgrading our essential infrastructure, supporting public safety, and strengthening our sense of community."
Speaking about Long Island's regional asset, Long Island MacArthur Airport, she shared the continued support and enthusiasm about the proposed and privately-funded new North Terminal adjacent to the LIRR station in Ronkonkoma.
The Supervisor also spoke about development projects that have recently been completed, as well as those currently underway throughout the Town. These initiatives, she noted, are designed to promote growth while preserving the character and history that residents value.
"The changes are really the progress we see all around us. Progress that is being built decision-by-decision, brick-by-brick to build the foundation that is going to last us into the next decade, century, and beyond." She finished her speech with a hope for the future. "Together, let's build an even stronger Islip, one that is built to last for many, many years to come."
