April 5th, 2019 – A temporary five-legged intersection in Brentwood received a permanent traffic solution this week. Islip’s Traffic Safety Division determined an upgraded design which was implemented to assist motorists in navigating the intersection of MacArthur Ave., Nimitz Ave. and McNair St.
“We made a commitment to incorporate a permanent traffic solution into the 2019 paving schedule. The traffic pattern is now a four-way intersection with an All Way Stop Sign for additional safety and control,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
This new design replaces the temporary “Quick-Curb” design that was used to establish appropriate and clear channelization for vehicles entering and exiting the intersection from all approaches.
The intersection is adjacent to the Brentwood Community Gardens.
