Stormwater Management Pamphlets and Brochures
Town of Islip Municipal Stormwater Management
The Stormwater Management Program is a blueprint for the Town of Islip, local businesses and residents to use to help prevent contamination of coastal waters, water ways and ground waters from pollutants and toxins found in everyday materials, including, but not limited to: trash, chemicals, pet waste, grease, oil, cleaners, paints and sediments. Stormwater carries pollutants from these sources through Islip’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) where they pose a threat to surface water and drinking water quality.
Requirements and Reports
The Federal Government and New York State provide authorization for small municipalities to discharge stormwater through the administration of a Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit. The Town of Islip maintains and enforces a stormwater management program designed to reduce the discharge of pollutants from stormwater to the maximum extent practicable and protect water quality in accordance with the Clean Water Act.
The Draft of the Town 2025 Stormwater Management Program Annual Report is now available for public review on the Town’s website and at the Planning Department. The Town Stormwater Management Program Plan Documents are also available for public review at the Planning Department or by submitting a FOIL request via the Town’s online FOIL Request Form. Comments and questions on the Town Stormwater Management Program can be submitted to the Planning Department at 631-224-5450 or through the online report form.”
