NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Zoning Board of Appeals of the Town of Islip will hold a public hearing on October, 3rd, 2023 at Town Hall, 655 Main Street, Islip, NY on the following applications at the times listed or as soon thereafter as they may be reached. At such time all interested parties will be given an opportunity to be heard. Any disabled person who needs a sign language interpreter or special accommodations to attend this meeting is asked to please contact Constituent Services at 631-224-5380 as early as possible in order for the Town to accommodate.

The meeting will also be streamed live over the Internet. Instructions on how to access the livestream will be available in the space below.

Lost Memories, drawings, paintings, and mixed-media sculptures by James Schultz, will be the featured exhibit at the BAFFA Gallery in early October. The artist finds “his greatest inspiration in the endless variety of myths and legends throughout the course of human history.” The Blue Point artist and art teacher says he “often places heroes, gods, and monsters in environments far from their origins.”

The exhibit can be viewed on October 7,8,14, and 15 from 1 to 3 PM with an opening reception on October 6 from 7 to 9 PM. The BAFFA Gallery is located at 47 Gillette Avenue in Sayville.

The Image of a Loved One: an exhibition of portraits, landscapes, and still life.

This featured exhibit at the BAFFA Art Gallery in Sayville will be hosted October 21 and 22. The artist, Catherine Rezin, after a career as a textile designer, turned to painting landscapes and portraits after retirement. She especially loves painting “portraits commissioned by families to memorialize moments in time or lost loved ones. Her desire is to give back to those brave and dedicated people who serve us in so many ways…”.

Exhibit hours are 1 to 4 PM on October 21 and 22. An artist’s reception will be held on the 21st from 1-4 PM. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
