May 24th, 2023 – The Town of Islip enjoys a robust Nutrition Program for its elderly population. The Suffolk County Office for the Aging recognizes the demand and popularity of this program and as a result, designated funds in its 2020 Suffolk County Operating Budget for the Town of Islip to purchase a van to assist in the delivery of nutrition services to the Town’s elderly residents.

May 23rd, 2023 – Members of The Ockers Senior Citizen Center Over 60 Club celebrated Carmela Stefanidis’ 90th Birthday in style!

Carmela was born in Astoria, Queens on May 16th, 1933. She graduated from Long Island City High School in 1950 and went on to attend Hunter College where she met the love of her life, Pete. They married in 1953 and lived in Astoria, where they had three daughters.

May 18th, 2023 – Long Island MacArthur Airport today celebrated all eight Breeze Airways’ destinations from Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) with an inaugural “Feel the Summer Breeze” sendoff for customers flying to Richmond, VA. The airport and airline marked the event with a water curtain salute from the Airport Fire Rescue Team.

May 18th, 2023 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Islip Town Board honored five students from the Town of Islip who received the U.S. Army’s Minuteman Scholarship. The Minuteman Scholarship Program is a Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) scholarship introduced in 2015 to enhance the Army Reserve’s ability to recruit highly qualified cadets every year.
