May 5th, 2023 – The Town of Islip paid tribute to the memory of its fallen hometown heroes, FDNY Jesse Gerhard and FDNY William Moon, with a cupola lighting ceremony Thursday. The event marks the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s, “Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters,” which invites fire and community organizations, businesses, landmarks and homes to light up red on May 4, International Firefighters Day, through May 7, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, and honors the sacrifice of America’s fallen fire heroes.
May 4th, 2023 – Winners of the Town of Islip Pool Safety Poster Contest were recognized by Town officials recently for their creativity. The participating students are all part of the Town’s popular After-School Program.
May 3rd, 2023 – The Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts, Inc, BAFFA, this year celebrates its 55th year of presenting music, art and cultural events.
April 28th, 2023 – Representatives from the Town of Islip’s Planning Department and Environmental Control were invited to join staff and students at East Islip High School for STEAM Day.
The Career Day type event gave students the opportunity to learn more about the many careers in STEAM related fields.
May 1st, 2023 – Each year, the Town of Islip Volunteer Breakfast pays tribute to all those senior volunteers who are kind enough to help out at their local senior centers.
April 27th, 2023 –The talented and creative winners of the Town of Islip's annual Earth Day Poster Contest were announced this week and honored with prizes for their artwork. The event is made possible through the Town of Islip DEC partnership with COVANTA, a leader in environmental innovation dedicated to helping business and communities capitalize on the benefits of zero waste-to-landfull.
