August 22nd, 2022 Congressman Andrew R. Garbarino (NY-02) recently held a veterans pinning ceremony at AMVETS Post 18 to honor Vietnam veterans as part of the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration — a national 50th anniversary commemoration — authorized by Congress and established under the Department of Defense in 2012. The primary objective of the commemoration is to thank and honor our Vietnam veterans and their families, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the Nation.

Supervisor Carpenter and the Islip Town Board stand with Firefighters Michael Hand, Matthew Arthurs and Danny Blasucci who were honored for their heroic actions rescuing a woman and her three dogs.

August 10th, 2022 Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and the Islip Town Board honored five local firefighters from three different departments for their heroic actions in the line of duty. Firefighters Matthew Arthurs and Danny Blasucci of the Islip Terrace Fire Department; Michael Hand of the East Islip Fire Department; and 1st Assistant Chiefs Jared Gunst and Alden Schroeder of the Islip Fire Department were recognized for saving a young woman and her three dogs from a house fire earlier this summer.

August 5th, 2022 Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Congressman Andrew Garbarino along with Councilman Jim O'Connor and town officials to announce a $3m grant for a new sewer connection in the Central Islip Downtown. The new sewer will allow for the development of a more diversified range of businesses, and provide the capability to attract and build cornerstone businesses that are reliant on sewer connectivity to make a location viable.

July 27th, 2022 Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined members of the Rotary Club of Islip to welcome Ukrainian refugees, nine-year old Polina and her mother Katryna to the United States.

The pair traveled to New York for Polina to receive life-saving pediatric heart micro-surgery at Saint Francis Hospital, a leader in the field of cardiac surgery. This was all made possible through the Rotary’s Gift of Life Initiative.
