A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

August 30th, 2021Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter is inviting residents to show their support of the Christina Renna Foundation and the fight against childhood cancers through the month of September by donning a gold ribbon. Since 1997, the American Childhood Cancer Organization has used the gold ribbon to symbolize that like gold, children’s lives are irreplaceable and treasured. The holiday tree outside Islip Town Hall will be adorned in gold ribbons during the month of September, in support of the Christina Renna Foundation and the fight against childhood cancers.

In the United States, childhood cancer remains the leading cause of disease related death for children and adolescence; each year 15,780 children aged 0-19 are diagnosed with cancer, and 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed before their 20th birthday.

"At any given time, an average of 40,000 children in the United States are actively receiving cancer treatment. Cancer research and awareness are pivotal in the fight against the disease. Show your support, and bring awareness to childhood cancer this September by displaying a gold ribbon," said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.
