October 18th, 2019 – Town Councilman John C. Cochrane, Jr, recently attended the first installation ceremony of the newly founded Kismet Historical Society on Fire Island. The group first came together on July 21st, 2019 when members of the Kismet community, ranging 14 – 82 years of age, sought to bring the rich historical elements of their Fire Island community into public awareness, employing the latest technology to develop a virtual museum.
October 17th, 2019 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Town Board invited all employees to wear pink recently to shine a spotlight on breast cancer research. A $5 donation enabled employees to also wear jeans to work for the day.
October 11th, 2019 – Town of Islip DPW crews have been working around the clock to mitigate coastal flooding caused by the recent storm system that swept through the area. All storm-related equipment is being utilized until the flood waters recede.
