August 30th, 2019 – Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter helped make the American Dream come true for a Bay Shore couple and their four children by presenting the keys to the family’s newly constructed 1,400 sf four bedroom home on Hyde Park Ave. in Bay Shore.
Mariluz and Luiz Castillo and their four children, stood on the porch of their two-story colonial during a press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, celebrating the moment the family took possession of their new home, made possible by the Town of Islip Community Development Agency and Suffolk County, through the 72-H program.
August 30th, 2019 – The Town of Islip hosted a Family Fun Day recently, to mark the Town's continued year-long 335 Birthday celebration.
Hundreds of residents turned out under magnificently sunny skies for games, giant bubble making, face painting, FREE hot dogs courtesy of the Brentwood Fire Department, music by Latinology, autographs from Cosmos Soccer players, a pick-up basketball game with SCPD officers and Town of Islip Public Safety Officers, giveaways and a complimentary swim in the newly renovated Olympic-size Clemente swimming pool.
August 30th, 2019 – Students from the Town of Islip's 2019 Open Water Swim Jr. Lifeguard program came to Islip's Atlantique Beach Saturday, August 24 to celebrate the culmination of an 8-week program by demonstrating their newly learned skills in a series of open water competitions.
August 21st, 2019 – An off-duty security guard was hailed at the Town of Islip August Town Board meeting, for helping police apprehend a suspect who allegedly robbed a local 7-11 recently.
Gary Stack, of Holbrook, was sitting in his car in the parking lot of a nearby 7-11 after picking up a cup of coffee inside the store around 6 am, when he saw a man run out of the store. Seconds later, a 7-11 employee burst through the doors yelling for help, that the store had just been robbed.
August 21st, 2019 – Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Town Board recognized at the August Town Board meeting, 10 year-old Oliver Rivadeneyra who for the past 5 years, has been selling lemonade, limeade and baked goods from “Oliver’s Lemonade Stand” outside his Islip Terrace house.
August 15th, 2019 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter attended the 25th Annual Clam Shucking Contest hosted by the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition. The contest, held at Nicky’s on the Bay in Bay Shore, drew community members, elected officials and representatives from Good Samaritan Hospital to the annual event.
