A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

Senior Citizen (RP-467) and Disability (RP-459-c) Exemptions will be AUTOMATICALLY RENEWED for the 2022/23 tax year pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order No. 11.1 of 2022 and the Town of Islip Town Board Resolution adopted on January 11, 2022, as long as the property remains the exemption recipient’s primary residence and there are no changes to ownership (e.g., adding another owner to the deed, or transferring the property to a new owner). This process assists our most vulnerable populations for one year during this COVID-19 Pandemic.

NO ACTION IS NECESSARY. The Assessor will notify you in writing of the amount of exemption granted for the 2022/23 tax year, and how it will appear on your tax bill to be issued in December of 2022. The Assessor will also notify you in writing if your qualifications are questioned (e.g., as a result of a change of ownership or your primary residence).

For all other exemption and renewal applicants, the deadline to file an application with the Assessor’s Office is Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
