A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

The Islip Town Fire & EMS Museum and Education Center was established after a twenty six year journey by a small band of firefighters navigating through the complexities of fundraising, permits and building construction. Constructed entirely without taxpayer funds, the museum was built as a modern facility through numerous fundraising efforts as well as utilizing donated/discounted materials and skilled labor provided through a variety of sources.

Dedicated in June of 2017, the Islip Town Fire & EMS Museum and Education Center is designed to provide a showcase to preserve, maintain and exhibit the rich history of the volunteer Fire and EMS agencies serving the Town of Islip for over 125 years. The museum utilizes a unique display concept in that each of the twenty one fire departments and five ambulance corps within the Town of Islip are provided with display cases to create their own exhibit showcasing artifacts representing their individual agency's storied history. Furthermore, the museum maintains a quarterly rotation of both antique fire apparatus and artifacts exhibits, ensuring a truly distinct experience each time visitors attend the museum.

The museum provides a variety of educational training programs geared for both the general public and fellow first responders. These include but are not limited to defensive driver education, Pet CPR & First Aid, babysitter safety, historical presentations, fire safety education and firefighter training seminars. These training programs generate revenue to support the daily operating expenses of this private, non-profit facility.

Visit our Community Calendar for upcoming training programs, seminars and events at the Islip Town Fire Museum.
