INSIDE ISLIP Road Maintenance
The Department of Public Works, is responsible for a variety of services, including the maintenance of over 1,200 miles of roadway. The principal responsibilities of the Highway Division are road maintenance and repair, snow, ice and flood control, as well as the operation of public parking lots. Maintenance of town roadways includes the repair of pot holes, crack filling and seal coating of pavement, shoulder maintenance and vegetation control, litter pickup, roadway sweeping and drainage. This division also operates two state of the art Brine making facilities for pre-treating roads prior to snow events.
