SPERRY TESTING – BABYLON TO SAYVILLE
- From approximately 8:45 am to 3:15pm on Wednesday February 3rd until Friday February 5th one of the main line tracks between Babylon and Sayville will be out of service due to Sperry Rail Testing. This is part of our annual track maintenance program which ensures our infrastructure is in a state of good repair. Previously scheduled work for Monday 2/1 and Tuesday 2/2 has been cancled due to weather.
- Some trains will be cancelled and replaced by buses in both directions between Babylon and Speonk and some trains will have added stops to accommodate trains that were cancelled. Passengers can expect approximately an additional 30 minutes of travel time.
- Part of Sperry testing involves catching defects in the rail, and when possible our crews will address these on site. As such, while the Sperry train itself does not cause much noise, any potential remedial work that is undertaken will, so there could be extra noise in the vicinity of our outage.
