May 10th, 2022 – Every two and a half minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with lung cancer. Each day more than 360 people succumb to the disease. Despite survival rates increasing by over 33% in the last decade, lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths for men and women.
That is why the Town of Islip is proud to stand with the American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE, to raise critical awareness about lung cancer, contributing risk factors and methods of early detection.
From Sunday, May 8th through Saturday, May 14th, the Islip Town Hall cupola will shine turquoise in celebration of the American Lung Association’s #TurquoiseTakeover initiative, encouraging all to stand united in the fight against lung cancer.
