As the warm weather approaches, the Town of Islip would like to remind residents that they need to obtain a pool permit before starting work on above-ground pools and in-ground pools. A permit helps to protect homeowners by ensuring that the pool complies with all state and local regulations and reducing potential liability. Permits are also required for “blow up” pools, hot tubs and spas, or any vessel capable of holding more than 18” of water. Failure to secure the proper permits can result in additional fees, violations and costly removal fees. Homeowners are reminded it is their responsibility to ensure they obtain a Certificate of Compliance from the Town upon completion.
