October 18th, 2019 – On Friday, October 18th starting at 11:30PM and continuing through Saturday, October 19th 8:00AM the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be performing prep work for upcoming concrete tie installation by Pond Avenue, Ronkonkoma on the Mainline. Concrete tie replacement work is being performed as an ongoing initiative to renew track infrastructure assets and improve safety and on-time performance. Details for the work are as follows:
CONCRETE TIE REPLACEMENT PREP WORK – RONKONKOMA
- Concrete tie preparation work is scheduled for Friday, October 18 starting at 11:30PM and continuing through Saturday, October 19 8:00AM.
- Full closure of the Pond Avenue, Ronkonkoma on the Mainline grade crossing as the long equipment trains slowly move thru the work zone.
Noise resulting from this work may be audible to those nearby, as well as a noticeable increase of dust in the area. The LIRR apologizes in advance for any inconvenience. MTA police will be onsite to ensure a safe and orderly operation.
Be advised: Concrete Tie Installation is expected to take place the weekend of November 9th. Full closures are to be expected. Additional details will follow as they are made available.
