February 20th, 2020 – The New York State Department of Transportation today announced that motorists should expect road work this weekend on both direction of State Route 27A (Montauk Highway/Main Street) in the Town of Islip, Suffolk County.
On Saturday, February 22 from approximately 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a roadway surface maintenance operation beginning at Fifth Avenue and heading east to State Route 27 (Sunrise Highway) at the Oakdale Merge. This will be a moving operation with no lane closures expected.
As with most road projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather. NYSDOT appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists and the local community while this project is undertaken.
NYSDOT recently unveiled a new public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of driving responsibly in work zones. The video highlights the importance of paying attention in work zones and obeying New York State’s “Move Over” laws.
