April 13th, 2020 – Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined with PSEG Long Island officials on a briefing call this morning, as high winds and heavy rains begin to surge in the region. The storm system, forecast to make its largest impact Monday afternoon, is expected to bring abnormally high winds, with peak gusts of up to 70 mph.
Islip Town crews stand at the ready, fueling all vehicles, chainsaws and pumps. Maintenance teams have been dispatched to check the Town's 5 pump stations. Town tankers are out in the field and have begun pumping, all the while maintaining social distancing guidelines. .
"As we continue to adapt to the challenges of the current public health pandemic, adhering to social distancing and safe workplace practices, our Town remains ready to assist and respond to emergencies, in order to ensure our residents’ safety," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
