April 28th, 2020 – Pharmapacks, a rapidly growing e-commerce company and the largest US partner of Amazon, Walmart and Jet.com, is expanding its Long Island operation. The Town of Islip Industrial Development Agency Board approved an inducement resolution at the April Town Board meeting, paving the way for the company to lease 232,000 sf of space in the Town of Islip. The new space, currently under construction and located in Edgewood, will serve as Pharmapacks’ main warehouse and distribution center.
Pharamapacks is headquartered in Queens, and currently has three facilities on Long Island, including one in Islandia and one in Ronkonkoma; both of those locations are already in the Town of Islip. The new project in Edgewood will expand the company’s operations on LI, and will not impact their other facilities. The company currently has 711 employees and plans to hire an additional 105 at the Edgewood facility.
Pharmapacks considered locating this facility in NJ and Connecticut, where there is a greater inventory of high ceilinged industrial buildings. “More and more start-ups, small businesses and large manufacturers are turning to the Town of Islip. Our location offers close proximity to Long Island MacArthur Airport, easy access to New York City, workforce development, site location assistance and much more,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “Our highly-experienced IDA team is available to address and find innovative solutions to almost any challenge or special needs a business may encounter,” said Supervisor Carpenter.
“The tax benefits that the Agency has offered Pharmapacks are an investment in a company that has experienced explosive growth in just six years. That investment will no doubt pay off in dividends in the form of increased employment and property tax growth,” said William Mannix, Executive Director of the IDA.
The new building, located at 80 Wilshire Blvd, already has a previous PILOT Agreement in place. This new project for Pharmapacks will involve a sales tax benefit to the company from the Town of Islip IDA of $922,000 on a capital expenditure of over $13 million.
