Last Day to Pay at the Town of Islip: June 1
Beginning June 2 Second Half Payable to the
Suffolk County Comptroller
Without Interest and Penalty
May 29th, 2020 – Suffolk County Comptroller John Kennedy announced the extension of the second half of the real property tax deadline to June 20 (payment due next business day Monday, June 22) without penalty or interest, in accordance with the New York State executive order. Tax payments made after close of business June 1 and through June 22, should be paid directly to the Suffolk County Comptroller’s Office in Riverhead.
Residents can mail their payment to the Office of the Suffolk County Comptroller, 330 Center Drive, Riverhead, NY 11901. The taxpayer is asked to enclose their payment stub from the Town, and make the check payable to the Comptroller. For any questions, please call 631-852-3011. The County Center will have a drop box in the lobby. Hours are Monday – Friday 9-5pm. The lobby will NOT be open on weekends.
Online payments will NOT be available, as the County will not yet have received the current tax records from the Towns.
“The COVID-19 public health crisis has created catastrophic hardships for many people, particularly in Suffolk County, one of the areas hardest hit by the pandemic,” said Comptroller Kennedy. “Extending the second half real property tax deadline to June 22 without penalty or interest will give residents a much-needed grace period in order to meet their real property tax obligation,” he said.
