August 25th, 2020 – Town Councilman James P. O’Connor celebrates the creativity, ingenuity, and COVID-19 safety measures put into place by organizations and service providers that support the disability community.
“During this historic public health crisis, I have seen fellow Americans come together in the spirit of resilience to support at-risk communities across the Town of Islip.
From athletic coaching to equestrian therapy, organizations such as Special Olympics, United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island, Pal-O-Mine and many other wonderful organizations that provide services and therapy to individuals with disabilities, have forged new paths to move forward safely.”
As the Chairperson of the Town of Islip Disability Advisory Board, it is an imperative for me, that individuals with disabilities are equally represented during these unchartered times.”
Councilman O’Connor reminds residents that “COVID-19 is still a risk to us all. We have come too far to have any major setbacks. Please continue to be safe. Use common sense. Practice social distancing and wear your masks.”
