March 29th, 2021 – Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Islip Town Councilman James P. O’Connor, recently recognized Bella Pepe for being named Buddy of the Year by TOPSoccer's East Region.
Bella Pepe, a sophomore at East Islip High School, was named Buddy of the Year for TOPSoccer's East Region, for her efforts volunteering as a soccer instructor for children with special needs. TOPSoccer is a community-based program for athletes with disabilities.
"It is inspiring to see young leaders like Bella volunteering in the disability community, and playing an important role in enriching the lives of others," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
"As Chairperson of the Town of Islip Disability Advisory Board, I look at the future with confidence knowing that young leaders like Bella Pepe are setting their goals towards making our communities an inclusive place for all,” said Councilman James P. O’Connor. “I encourage Bella Pepe and all advocates of the disability community to get involved and join us in helping to create equitable opportunities,” added the Councilman.
