April 14th, 2021 – Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk made the American Dream a reality for a local family who was given the keys to their new Central Islip home Wednesday. The home was renovated entirely by Habitat for Humanity volunteers. Luna Raymond, her husband and their two daughters celebrated the occasion with a ribbon cutting on the steps of the new home.
Town of Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter; Councilmen Jim O'Connor; John Cochrane, Jr., and a representative from Councilwoman Mary Kate Mullen's office attended the dedication.
"This is so exciting! Another wonderful family coming to a beautiful home in the Town of Islip," said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. "It's truly symbolic, that as we look around on this beautiful sun-filled day and see the grass being rooted in the lawn, your family is also putting down its own roots. It's a perfect time of the year to be starting out in a new home, and on behalf of my colleagues on the Town Board, we wish you many, many years of happiness here," added the Supervisor.
