June 24th, 2021 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and members of the Arbors East Assisted Living in Islandia honored Walter Bischoff on the occasion of his 100th birthday.
Walter Bischoff has devoted his life to courage and his country, serving as a member of the United States Navy as a Chief Ship Fitter on the U.S.S. Madison during the Second World War. After his discharge, Walter continued work as a skilled plumbing and heating contractor, and served as an active member of the Lakeview Fire Department for more than 60 years. In testament to his character, Walter’s strength and perseverance helped him through his battle with COVID-19.
Walter is a beloved husband to his wife Marguerite of 50 years, father of two, and is a beloved grandfather and great grandfather.
“Walter’s remarkable service and devotion to his community and country leave a legacy that has become a model within his family and the community. On behalf of the Islip Town Board, we thank you for your service, and wish you good health and happiness,” said Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
