August 27th, 2021 –Hundreds of families from all over the Town of Islip turned out Thursday to celebrate the official opening and ribbon cutting of the Roberto Clemente Spray Park in Brentwood. Pool goers found respite from extreme heat under water fountains, slides, a can shower, rain and mist sprays, as well as by swimming in the new Olympic size swimming pool.
Admission to the pool and spray park was free, and everyone enjoyed free hotdogs and ice cream, games, live music from a DJ and more.
“The completion of the Roberto Clemente Spray Park, along with the new amenities and renovations that have taken place and those still in the works, have been a priority to myself, the members of the Town Board and our partner in the NYS Assembly, Assemblyman Phil Ramos. Our residents deserve safe, clean spaces to enjoy, and the smiling faces we’ve seen here today shows that our restoration of Roberto Clemente Park is paying itself forward,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.
Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter; members of the Islip Town Board; Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Commissioner Tom Owens; Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Deputy Commissioners Dierdre Wahlberg and Carol Charchalis; Assemblyman Phil Ramos; members from the Brentwood Public Library and Suffolk County Police Department were also in attendance.
