“Early detection is the best prevention. We are hopeful that seeing the color pink will serve as a visual reminder to the women and men in our neighboring communities to have their annual mammograms. I am proud to say that in the Town of Islip, we have three breast cancer coalitions, Islip, West Islip and Bay Shore Brentwood, that work tirelessly, providing financial and emotional support services to those who are in treatment for breast cancer and other women’s cancers,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter. This year, 250 businesses and residences within the two townships will be adorned in pink lights and ribbon to commemorate Pink by the Bay during October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
