January 21st, 2022 – Residents across the Town of Islip took the Betty White Challenge to heart, by sending hundreds of items to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter through Amazon purchases, mail-in check or donation. The Betty White Challenge honored beloved actress and animal rights advocate Betty White’s 100th birthday. Large and small businesses took part in the challenge, including Local Burger in Bay Shore and Long Island MacArthur Airport’s newest airline partner, Breeze Airways.

“The newly opened Town of Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet-Center received an outpouring of donations from the community in honor of beloved actress Betty White. These generous gifts and donations will go a long way for all the animals waiting for their forever homes,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

Town of Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-A-Pet-Center received more than $4,000 in donations, as well as cases of animal feed, toys, food bowls, collars and harnesses, laundry detergent, paper towels and cat litter. Donations are still being accepted to the Islip Animal Shelter.
