January 26th, 2022 Since taking up the “Betty White Challenge” on January, 12th, 2022 in honor of known animal rights advocate and activist Betty White, the Town of Islip has seen an outpouring of support from a community eager to commemorate her legacy with donations to the Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center.

The Town has since received 120 packages of assorted cat toys, 50 containers of dog treats, 34 assorted dog toys, 30 bags/tubs of cat litter, 55 collars and harnesses, 10 bags of dry cat food, 6 cases of can cat food, 12 cases of paper towels, 27 bottles of laundry detergent, 10 small dog/cat bowls, and an astounding $4,760 in monetary donations as of the morning of Wednesday, January 26th.

“These donations stand as testament not only to the tremendous reach of Betty White’s extraordinary life, but of the warmth and generosity of the entire Islip community. For the animals in our Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center waiting for their forever homes, this continued outpouring of support, gifts and donations will not go unnoticed,” said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

Donations of $5 can be mailed to the Town of Islip Animal Shelter, 200 South Technology Drive, Central Islip, NY 11722. Please indicate “Betty White Challenge” with your donation.

The Animal Shelter also has many cats, dogs and small animals looking for forever homes.
